Thinking of all of you, we wanted to make this little Christmas gift that we hope will inspire you so that all of your challenges, desires and purposes of the coming year can come true. A great little secret
The secret of happiness
A certain merchant sent his son with the wisest of all men to learn the secret of Happiness. The young man walked for forty days in the desert, until he came to a beautiful castle on top of a mountain. There lived the wise man he was looking for.
However, instead of finding a holy man, our hero entered a room and saw immense activity; merchants who came and went, people talking in the corners, a small orchestra that played soft melodies and a table full of the most delicious delicacies of that region of the world. The wise man talked with everyone, and the young man had to wait two hours for him to attend.
The wise man listened carefully to the reason for his visit, but told him that at that moment he did not have time to explain the Secret of Happiness. He suggested he take a walk around his palace and come back two hours later. “But I want to ask you a favor,” the sage added, handing him a teaspoon of tea into which he dropped two drops of oil. While walking, take this spoon and take care that the oil does not spill.
The young man began to climb up and down the palace steps, always keeping his eyes fixed on the spoon. After two hours, he returned to the presence of the sage.
“How are you?” Asked the sage. “Did you see the tapestries of Persia in my dining room?” Did you see the garden that the gardeners’ master took ten years to create? Did you notice the beautiful parchments in my library?
The young man, embarrassed, confessed that he had not seen anything. His only concern had been not to spill the drops of oil that the wise man had entrusted to him. Then come back and know the wonders of my world, “said the sage. You can not trust a man if you do not know his house.
Calmer, the young man took the spoon again and walked around the palace again, this time looking attentively at all the works of art that adorned the ceiling and the walls. He saw the gardens, the mountains around him, the delicacy of the flowers, the care with which each work of art was placed in its place. Back in the presence of the sage, he told him in detail everything he had seen.
-But where are the two drops of oil that I entrusted to you? the Sage asked.
The young man looked at the spoon and realized that he had spilled it.
-Well, this is the only advice I can give you -said the most Wise of all the Sages-, the Secret of Happiness is to look at all the wonders of the world, but never forgetting the two drops of oil in the spoon.
