Cabo de Gata Beaches: natural areas in Almeria

The Cabo de Gata has 60 kilometers of coastline plagued with beaches and coves where you can relax, some have good access and others can only be reached by boat, but are certainly one of the biggest attractions in the area.

There are many places to visit, these are our recommendations:

Los Genoveses beach: virgin beach of dunes of fine golden sand located in Campillo del Genovés, a valley that preserves the beauty in its most natural state. It has a kilometer long, surrounded by small dunes. Perfect to enjoy the family bathroom. If we enter a little in the sea we will find an immense Prairie of Posidonia.

Los Muertos Beach: with more than a kilometer in length is the one that possesses the most crystalline and blue water of all the Beaches of Cabo de Gata. The sand is composed of small stones that are thinning as we approach the shore. Access to this beach is not easy. On the right side of the beach there are a couple of peñones that constitute the characteristic photo of this beach.

El Playazo Beach: located very close to Rodalquilar and with 400 meters in length, the sand is fine and golden and the water calm, in summer is a little overcrowded. Flanked by mountains at one end and in the other by the Castillo de San Ramón, which is built on a fossilized dune that has excellent panoramic views of the cliffs of La Molata.

Vera BeachMojacar Beach

El Barronal Beach: located between the beach of the Genoveses and Monsul in the municipality of San José, frequented by naturists who enjoy a totally unspoilt environment. Of fine sand and without stones, with less influx of public in summer turn it into one of the paradisiac beaches of Cabo de Gata.

Agua Amarga Beach: located in the village of Agua Amarga is a beach of fine golden sand with a lot of charm, the occupation in the months of July and August is usually high and has all kinds of services. In one of the sides of the beach we find small caves that in other times were inhabited, at the other end an abandoned mineral loading port.

Las Negras Beach: slocated in the village of Las Negras, composed of small stones of dark color and about 850 meters in length, just as the beach of Agua Amarga also has many services and high occupancy during the summer months, however its bohemian atmosphere and its diving club make it worth visiting.

Isleta del Moro Beach: located just at the entrance of the village, is 400 meters long and consists of fine sand. Being very close to the village offers all kinds of services.

San Miguel de Cabo de Gata Beach: occupies the entire length of the seafront of the San Miguel de Cabo de Gata neighborhood, 2 and a half kilometers, and with blue flag thanks to the large number of services available. It is the largest beach of the Cabo and although its level of occupation in summer is high can be very comfortable thanks to its wide extension.

San José Beach: located in the village of San José, is a large beach, 850 meters of fine sand with a high occupancy level. We will find all kinds of services.

En Medio Cove and El Plomo Cove: La Cala de Enmedio (En Medio Cove) is a small beach with fine golden sand. It offers breathtaking views of the town of Agua Amarga and the Mesa Roldán hill with and lighthouse and castle. On both sides of the beach there are fossilized dunes. Very close we find the Cove of the lead bigger than the previous one and also with fine sands.

San Pedro Cove: you can only reach it by foot or by sea from Las Negras. In this beach there is a community of people who live in it all year, the hippies of the park, live from crafts, objects made with leather, shells, etc. This cove is named after the ruins of the Castillo de San Pedro.

Rajá Cove: is a small beach with 120 meters long, located between cliffs, its sand is very fine and pleasant. Access to this beach is not easy. Ideal for snorkeling or snorkeling.

Raven’s Cove: very close to the town of Las Negras, with 140 meters in length and fine sand. The views from this beach are spectacular as we can see the village of Las Negras, the black hill and behind it La Cala San Pedro. Perfect for the practice of snorkeling, the cove is closed by a wall on its right side where we can find a great variety of marine fauna.

Sand Cove: small beach with only 55 meters in length and very fine sand, very close to the lighthouse of Cabo de Gata is one of the beaches of Cabo de Gata totally virgin and solitary.
