Almeria beaches: the best beaches in the city and province
Our beaches are the most outstanding features of Almeria, most of them awarded blue flag status. Visitors to the eastern coast of Almeria can choose between urban and virgin beaches. The former, with all the necessary services, are found next to the tourist centres of Vera, Mojacar and Garrucha. The temperature of the Mediterranean Sea and its clean waters attracts bathers and sports lovers during most of the year.
On the other hand, there are several examples of virgin beaches in Almeria, and specifically in this area, which escaped urban development, and which are considered some of the most beautiful beaches along the Mediterranean Sea. Many of them have even been the scene of films and television programmes.
“Playa de los Muertos” (Beach of the Dead), in Carboneras (within the Natural Park Cabo de Gata-Níjar worth a visit for its unique scenery) is an isolated, virgin, wild beach with no human construction nearby, and can only be reached via a pedestrian path. It is named after the goods from wrecked boats which the streams brought to shore.
The emblematic beaches of Los Genoveses, Las Negras, Cala Chica, Los Escullos or Mónsul are others that no lover of coastal retreats should miss in this part of Andalusia. Some of them are nudist beaches.
To enjoy a paradise full of beaches, you have to know the beaches of Almeria.
